The questions most people ask first.

I haven't trained in years โ€” am I too out of shape to start?

No, you're not too out of shape to start. I specialise in meeting people exactly where they are. Most clients walk in feeling rusty, unsure, or completely new โ€” and the first session is about understanding the body you have today, not judging where you used to be. We start with what you can do, then build from there.

I have an old injury. Will training make it worse?

When done properly, training is one of the best things you can do for an old injury. Injury prevention and rehabilitation is one of my core specialisms. Every programme starts with a movement screen, and exercises are selected and progressed to strengthen around the issue โ€” not aggravate it. We work with the injury, never against it.

I'm a busy professional with a family. Will I really have time for this?

Yes โ€” sessions are built around your schedule, not the other way round. I'm a father of two, so I know what juggling work, family, and your own health actually looks like. Most clients train 2-3 times per week in 45-60 minute focused sessions that fit before work, at lunch, or after the school run. The programme protects your time, not just your gains.

What actually happens in the free consultation?

It's a relaxed conversation, not a sales pitch. We meet at PureGym Aberdeen, talk through your goals and any past injuries, and walk through the gym together so you know the space. By the end you'll have a clear picture of what training together would look like โ€” and you decide afterwards. No pressure, no commitment.

I want to build muscle but I don't want to look bulky. Is that possible?

Absolutely. Building lean muscle and getting visibly bulky are two very different processes โ€” they take different programming, different volume, and different nutrition. Muscle tone and development is one of the things I write programmes for most. The result is a stronger, leaner, more defined shape โ€” not size for the sake of size.

Do I need to be a PureGym member already?

Yes โ€” PureGym membership is required to train at the Aberdeen Wellington Circle site with me. If you're not a member yet, it's a quick sign-up at the gym or online. I can walk you through it during your free consultation.
